Birders with iPhones? September 24th, 2008

While brainstorming new ideas and features for ChirpTracker, one that naturally comes to mind is an iPhone application.  Now, even though you don’t know exactly what the site is about, we are curious as to how many birders actually have an iPhone?  We also would like to know that if you have one, do you usually take it with you when you go birding?  Finally, if you are interested in ChirpTracker and want to stay updated on our iPhone application, you can simply email us at contact@chirptracker.com and we will keep you up-to-date.

Yes I have an iPhone 3G and take it on every birding trip. What I love about it: GPS, full internet access, applications like twitter, facebook, wordpress, weatherbug, AIM, and use with BirdJam bird sounds.

My husband and I both take our iPhone 3Gs with us birding. My husband does mobile blogging and I use mine to access BirdJam sounds.

ChirpTracker OleBuck here. I don’t have an iPhone but do have the iTouch and carry it with me on my bird outings. I use a field guide app (especially if I’ve forgotten a book), bird sounds in mp3 and sometimes a notepad app in lieu of paper. A ChripTracker app would be great particularly if it had an “offline” phase so I could submit my sightings once I got back to a wifi area. Thanks CTTeam!
